With everything currently coming out of social media from the office of the United States of America president and his buddies, I cannot help but get this uncomfortable mental picture of little boys excited about eventually getting their hands on that play-station game they’ve always wanted but thought the parents wouldn’t get it for them.
But now this is real. This is not a game. Second takes will neither be perpetual nor without serious life-threatening impacts.
Could we be approaching the US’s own “1991 Moment”? If we are indeed, how fast will this shift unfold? With the Soviet Union the collapse took two years – 1989 to1991. As soon as their internal contradictions reached breaking point, that was it!
How is it going to unfold with the US? Will the MAGA US face a sudden, dramatic shift—or just a slow painful decline? That, for me, is the question right now.
However it pans out, it will not end well. For all of us, including the US itself. Due to the current global economic set-up, when the US sneezes, most of the world catches the cold.
But we all know what would happen if a mother did not cooperate with her body at child-birth, but tried to stop the flow of nature in delivering the baby into the world. Excruciatingly painful and bloody the process may be, but the baby has to be born. With the US scenario, it’s just that the midwife and his doulas are causing such a global breath-holding and clenched teeth.
However, when all is said and done, on the other side of every major catastrophic moment aka crisis, is a brilliant opportunity. An opportunity for the African continent and for the BRICS+ development.
